During January, I made a lot (a lot!) of drawings of frogs. I had wanted to share them on 28 February – the EWT’s Leap Day for Frogs. But a month later will suffice, and every day should be a day of awareness of frog conservation in my opinion.
Most of these drawings are attempts at creating a frog-snake hybrid, much like Echnida, after seeing Nandipha Mntambo‘s most recent sculpture (installation?) of the same name. It was such a powerful work and I really longed to curl up in the snake’s coils, and just sit there for an afternoon. Unfortunately one is not allowed to touch Art in Fancy Galleries. So I didn’t.
And secondly, I’ve had this idea that my entire house would have these tiny, hidden frogs. I made two of them.
