FOX IN EARS

I have a bee in my bonnet (actually, in a classic case of introjection, my colleague has a bee in her bonnet) about making polymer clay earrings of an animal that has the front of the animal on the front and the back that is then at the back of the ear, as if they are climbing through the piercing.

These foxes are my first two attempts.

They weren’t particularly successful. The brown fox was way too big, and didn’t even make it to the oven. The red fox was better in size, if still too big, but then the actual thingie that goes through the ear broke off in the oven.

I have since heard about Findings and Willem said he’ll go buy me some sturdier ear studs. I’m looking forward to trying again, it’s really pushing my skills to work this tiny scale and it’s a lot of fun.
