This week’s Artist Way reading has got me really thinking about the Owl Housein Nieu Bethesda. If you’ve never been, I can’t really describe what it’s like to be there. It’s nothing short of amazing but it’s not nice. It’s not a pretty house in a dry, arid environment and Helen Martin’s story is not a pretty story.
But while reading about being true to what wants to be created I couldn’t help but think about her cement sculptures and with the ground glass that eventually led to her blindness. And I can’t help but reflect how lucky I am to be living in this connected world where a quick google search can lead me tomy tribe – even if they are situated across oceans and time spans. And my best tribe member of allcan be found a quick phone call away.
