Painted Wolves. Wild Dogs. Ferocious.

Led by their alpha female, who is the only one to bear pups. The whole pack raises them.

They roam far and wide. They can’t be held in small spaces, for they need borderless places to run.

They are in dire danger of becoming extinct. Already, small groups of genetically compromised groups are disease ridden.

My wild heart longs to run with them.

Reading Women who run with the wolves I was immediately struck with the thought: There are no wolves here to run with.

But I feel lucky that there are – even if their remaining time is only brief – the painted wolves.

(Maybe help save them from extinction? We can at least try)
