This guy pointed me to this guy, who writes about the science of habits. And a lot of what he’s saying makes a lot of sense. It boils down to the fact that no-one really wants to change, so if we want to bring change into our lives we have to do it in extremely small steps. Like, if I want to build the habit to floss every night, I have to start by flossing just one tooth every night.*

I read this and started doing about 16 tiny little things every day. Which is the same as trying to do one big change so that didn’t really serve any value.

One of the things I wanted to do was to keep a digital art journal. I maintained the same philosophy as before, which is that the art journal is not for sharing.

*flossing? I gained this habit in one night. How? Because I read that bad tooth health increases the chance of miscarriage and I had recently found out I was pregnant and knew I would not be able to handle a miscarriage, so I implemented all of the health recommendations overnight and managed to stick with them.

Okay, I lie. I didn’t implement all of them at once. It took me three weeks to truly give up coffee.
